And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD." Joshua 24:15

For They Know His Voice

"And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers." John 10:4-5

As Christians I know we all want to "know his voice" but how do we get to know his voice? First we need to understand what his voice is.

We are told in Psalms 103:20 "Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word."

This scripture shows us that his Holy Word, the Bible, is his voice. Therefore we should read and study it always so when the time comes we will hear and understand the truth and we will respond to his voice when he calls.

It isn’t enough to follow our hearts and do the things that we think are right and moral because it may not be what God considers right and moral. I dare to say that if you have never read your Bible fully then God is different than what you think he is. You will realize this only after you actually read it for yourself.

In John 1:1 we read. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."

And in Hebrews 10:7 we are told "then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God."

We can see now that our Bible is much more than just a book. We know him through it. He is the Word and it is his voice to those that will take time to learn it and study it. If we are faithful over this we will respond when he calls because now we "know his voice."
